This is because the UL standard of 1213 says that the temperature resistance should be 150℃, but it can be used in a high temperature environment of 327℃ and below. They replace the material of UL1213 with other materials, such as PVC, whose temperature resistance is also 150℃, so the cost can be much lower. As the price can be much cheaper than other legitimate UL1213, many customers will fall into the merchant's price tag.
There's another factor: The insulation material of UL1213 is PTFE, and the production process of PTFE wire is difficult and complicated, which has high requirements on production equipment, testing environment and equipment. Therefore, there are few manufacturers that can produce it, but the demand is only increasing, and the production cost is also high. The price of this wire will be higher than the price of other wire, so there will be the above mentioned business loophole situation.
PTFE wire can be used for a long time at 260℃ temperature, wire performance almost no change, when the temperature reaches its melting point 327℃, the outer insulation will begin to become soft, but once left the fire, the outer insulation will return to the original shape and hardness, and other materials of the wire: When the combustion temperature reaches the melting point, the outer insulation will burn and melt away from the conductor. If it drops on some combustibles, it is easy to cause a series of fire accidents, resulting in the loss of manpower, material and financial resources.
In addition to the above properties, PTFE also has excellent low temperature resistance, can be in such a very low temperature of -200℃, not hard brittle still has satisfactory mechanical strength and softness.
